This course is designed for people who are responsible for drug and alcohol screening or collection in the workplace, and those wishing to learn more about drug and alcohol screening procedures.Elements of this course include:

  • understanding organisational guidelines for drug and alcohol testing;
  • planning for drug and alcohol testing;
  • communicating testing requirements to employees;
  • undertaking random testing;
  • undertaking reasonable cause testing;
  • undertaking post-incident testing; and
  • completing records & testing documentation.

Units of Competency:

  • HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety
  • HLTPAT005 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing

 

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • explain relevant legislation pertinent to screening for drugs and alcohol;
  • identify and manage the hazards associated with drug and alcohol screening;
  • identify and demonstrate specialised safety equipment associated with drug and alcohol screening; and
    explain record keeping requirements
