In addition to the Track Awareness unit TLIF2080 and the Certificate II Core Competencies, it is required by all persons working in track and civil roles, including many construction roles. TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals is a unit of competency from the Certificate II Core Competencies

Upon completion of TLIB2085 you will have gained the following skills

  • Identify track and structures terminology
  • Identify features of track geometry
  • Identify principle track components and explain their purpose
  • Identify principal turnout components and explain their purpose
  • Identify tools, equipment and machines used for track installation and maintenance
  • Define basic terminology for track measurement
  • Identify measuring equipment
  • Select relevant equipment for basic track measurement tasks
  • Check measuring equipment for accuracy
  • Undertake basic track measurement
