The Metro Track Vehicle Operator (Full Course) is required to be undertaken by any individual required to operate a Road/Rail Vehicle or Track Machine within a ‘restricted’ environment, i.e. within a worksite protected by a method of safeworking.

This course is also recognised for the V/line Network on the Rail Industry Workers Card Roles.

Entry Requirements:

There are no prerequisites as per training.gov however as this course involves operating a track vehicle, students must have the following pre-requisites which meet the Pegasus Requirements:

  • Drivers Licence
  • Category 1 Rail Medical
  • Metro Train Track Safety Awareness Course

These will be required before a booking can be confirmed

Units of Competency:
  • TLIC3045 – Operate road/rail vehicle
  • TLIC2054 – Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite
  • Metro Track Vehicle Operator Certificate of Achievement
Assessment Type:Theory and Practical Asssessment
Course Expires After:MTM TVO expires every 2 years
Delivery Method:Classroom based
What to Bring and Wear:
  • For the practical, full PPE is required, including:
    • Work Boots – ankle support, steel cap and lace up
    • Long pants
    • Long Sleeve High Visibility Shirt or High Visibility Vest
    • Eye Protection – safety glasses
    • A Hard Hat
    • Safety Gloves
    • If you are unable to bring the above, please contact the TAA office to arrange to hire some in advance.
