National Track Worker Course

This course provides the foundational competencies required for many rail labouring and plant roles on most Australian railway networks.

This course covers 6 (TLI27121) Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure Core Units.

Rail Operators (AROs) consider this skill set to be a minimum requirement for anyone wanting to work within the rail corridor as a track worker. On completion of this, it will make up the Rail Industry Workers Card Job Role ‘Rail Labourer – National’

Apply Track Fundamentals

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to apply fundamentals of track maintenance and construction, and to carry out basic track measurement, in accordance with approved rail industry standards, safeworking and regulatory requirements and workplace procedures.

It includes identifying task terminology, track components and track tools and equipment; and undertaking basic track measurements.

People achieving competence in this unit will need to fulfil the applicable state/territory legislated rail safety requirements and to comply with relevant codes of practice and/or guidelines.

Work is performed under some supervision, generally within a team environment. It involves the application of routine operational principles and procedures to the fundamentals of track maintenance and construction, as part of workplace activities across a variety of operational contexts within the Australia rail system.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Aluminothermic Welding Recertification

ARTC NSW/QLD Track Vehicle Operator

Torrens Connect Tram Rules Addendum & PRES

The Torrens Connect Tram Rules Addendum & PPRESE course is designed to contextualise National Code of Practice Safeworking Rules to the Torrens Connect Light Rail Network, defining how rules and procedures apply to the Network to be able to operate safely in the Light Rail environment.

This course will enable persons who hold Safeworking national units of competency to work as a Competent Worker in the Adelaide Light Rail Network.

This course is also designed to give participants the underpinning skills and knowledge applicable to the safeworking requirements when working on an electrified rail network.

Safely Access the Rail Corridor (SARC) – Course

You can book the stand alone Safely Access the Rail Corridor  (SARC) or combine it in a package that includes your Category 3 Rail Medical and the Rail Industry Worker Card.

• This course has been developed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge for an individual to enter and perform works in the rail corridor in conformance with national industry requirements.
• This course is also known as the SARC or TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment: Face-to-face delivery

The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is designed for individuals aspiring to work or currently working as trainers, assessors, or educators in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. This course focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to design, deliver, and assess competency-based training.

This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to learners.

Face-to-Face Delivery Includes:

• Tailored course content for those in the transport industry.
• Access to student support days for additional assistance.
• Trainers available online and by phone for guidance.
• Over 90 hours of structured training sessions.
• A trainer-to-participant ratio capped at 1:15 for personalised attention.
• Assessment submissions via a dedicated student portal.
• Student portal access to e-learning resources and learner guides.
• Optional two-day workshop for group (3 x 30-minute sessions) and individual (2 x 30-minute sessions) training deliveries.

How the course is scheduled

There are various options available in regards to scheduling and the main include:

• 12 day block of virtually facilitated training sessions + online learning
• 12 days completed over 1 day per week + online learning

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment: Presentation Days

Training Ahead offers all students completing their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with us the opportunity to attend one of our scheduled presentation days to complete the practical observation tasks required for facilitating group training. This is held at our Melbourne office and the workshop is conducted with a qualified assessor present to observe and assess the practical components.

Students are required to complete the knowledge component prior to booking a presentation day.

Training Delivery Requirements

Under ASQA guidelines for the TAE40122 qualification, all training deliveries must be conducted in person or face-to-face. Participants will need:

• A group of four adults for the 3 x 30-minute group training sessions.
• Two additional adults for the 2 x 30-minute individual training sessions.

Training Ahead provides two options for completing these sessions:

1. Record your in-person training sessions and submit the videos for assessment.
2. Attend one of our dedicated presentation days at our Melbourne office.

For those attending presentation days, we will ensure a group of at least four adult learners is available at our Newcastle office to meet the delivery requirements.

Important Notes:

• You will have only one opportunity to utilise these scheduled presentation days, so ensure you are fully prepared and attend as per the delivery schedule provided.
• If you do not attend your scheduled session, you will need to arrange four adults, conduct the training sessions, record them, and upload the videos to your student portal for assessment

What is the cost?

​This workshop is included in the course fee for Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Can students from other RTOs completing their Certificate IV in Training and Assessment attend?

Yes, students completing studies at other RTOs are able to attend for a $250 fee. They are to book by calling the office on 1300 355 900.
