Traffic Management Implementer Category 2 – Victoria (TMI2)

This course provides the skills for the individuals who will be traffic management implementation on a site and road workers under their direction on Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads.

As per the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management, the Traffic Management Implementation 2 (RIISS00061 Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads) covers the functions on TTM Category 2 environments.

TTM Category 2 are inclusive of the following:

  • High-volume roads
  • Signalized intersections
  • Multi-lane or divided roads
  • Major urban roads

Note: The fee includes the Austroads registration fee.

TAA Admission Requirements:

Based on industry consultation and job role expectation as per the RIW National Track and Civil Matrix, TAA has the following admission requirements:

Students must provide:

  • General/Medical Requirements:
    • Photo proof of ID (drivers’ licence/passport).
    • At least 40 hours of experience working in a temporary traffic management workplace in a traffic controller role.
    • Entrants to the course must meet the requirements as set out in the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management.
  • Statement of Attainment (or equivalent):
    • RIISS00058 Traffic Controller Skill Set for Urban Streets and Low Volume Rural Roads
    • CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
    • Due to the above Statement of Attainment being a pre-training requirement, this means a white card is not accepted – it must be a Statement of Attainment.

TAA requires all students to be 18 years of age or older.

When does the course expire: 3 years
What to bring and wear:

All students will be required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during their placement, including:

  • Two-way radios
  • High-visibility vest/shirt/jacket and pants,
  • Safety boots,
  • Hard hat,
  • Safety glasses and gloves.

Work Placement

Skill Set – RIISS00061 – Traffic Management Implementer Skill Set for High Volume Roads (TMI2)

  • In addition to completing the units of competency, learners are required to complete at least three different types of set ups applying the relevant skills and knowledge in a temporary traffic management workplace.
  • The assessment for the units of competency comprises both theoretical and practical components. The practical assessment component is to be undertaken after the practical experience is gained. Practical experience requirements must be completed on declared Temporary Traffic Management Category 2 roads within a maximum of six months of successfully completing the two-day course.

TAA will assist you to organise your work placement

TAA will assist students with their work placement. We have three options available:

  • Option 1 – Students are also able to organise their own work placement to complete the practical experience.
  • Option 2 – TAA has relationships with various traffic management companies nationally and can organise practical placement for students. This placement will may be in either Melbourne area or regional Victoria.
  • Option 3 – TAA Australia also can offer placements within Melbourne area at an additional cost to book in your placement dates.
RTO

This is nationally accredited training delivery by Aakira Pty Ltd trading as Training Ahead Australia (RTO Code: 45462).

Language, Literacy and Numeracy
  • Students are required to have the ability to read and write English
  • The ASQF level of this training program has been assessed to be level 2.
  • Students are required to have at least Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills. Please advise if you have any language, literacy, or numeracy needs; or difficulties reading, writing, or speaking English.

All individuals entering this training course are subject to a Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) assessment prior to enrolment. If there is still any ambiguity of the candidates LLN level after the completion of the LLN assessment, the trainer will conduct a verbal interview to determine the candidates LLN level and take appropriate action, in accordance with TAA’s LLN procedures.

Where a candidate is determined to not meet the required LLN skills required they will not be enrolled in the training program.

You are required to bring photo ID, ideally, one of the following two types:

  • Australian Drivers Licence
  • Passport

This course is not eligible for Government Subsidies through Training Ahead Australia.

No Guarantee

Training Ahead does not provide any guarantee that:
